SOHN Jung Hee

Ceramic sculptor Jung Hee Sohn graduated with a B.A. in Art History from Barnard College in New York and a Masters in Ceramic& Glass Department from Hong-Ik University in Seoul. Since her first solo exhibition in 2008, the artist has been expressing her private ideas of human nature through mythological figures.

Her artworks require countless process and effort. First, she builds dynamical human figures with clay, and paints them with glaze. Then, she bakes them in a kiln at least three times, which requires a demanding process. Sometimes she adds other materials such as feather, cloth, and yarn on the ceramic to create an affluent texture.
