GIM Eungwon(Soho)
Biography
GIM Eungwon (Soho, 小湖金應元, 1855-1921)

 He taught Mukran Style when Gyeongseong Seohwa Misul Hwoe Gangseupso (Gyeongseong Art Institute of calligraphy and painting), was established in 1911 with JO Seokjin and AN Joongsik as one of the teachers. When Calligraphy and Painting Association was established, he was one of the members of thirteen promoters with Jo and An.

 GIM was a close friend with Heungseon Daewongun, who was father of King Gojong. Heungseon Daewongun mastered poetry, writing and painting. He was excellent in calligraphy and painting. He invented his own style in painting Mukran, which was called Seokparan石坡蘭, which followed his pen name, Seokpa. GIM was great in painting Mukrans, so he once was known as ghostpainter for Heungseon Daewongun. His Mukran followed Daewongun’s brush stroke style but also he had adjustable lines, which led him to have unique art world.

 GIM was also a great Haengseo行書 and Yeseo隸書 writer.
