Kyoung Tack HONG

Born in Seoul in 1968, Kyoung Tack Hong holds B.F.A in Painting from Kyoungwon University. Hong has vigorously attracted public attention since 2000 showing various series that include Pens and more.
Hong depicts the obsessive desire of contemporary men - who represents the artist himself - in various patterns through collections of specific objects such as pens and books. He questions the difference between the spirit-world and pop culture, and high quality and low quality in the present society. In his works, repetitive and gradually increasing images look identical and mechanical repetition but each painted objects are assigned with unique forms and colors. Each piece congregates and formulates into one ambience. Mixing elegant forms and vulgar forms, pure forms and popular forms, Hong deals about the meaninglessness of distinguishing those characteristics. Currently, the artist does not limit his creating activity into paintings but extends his working scope to video as well.

Kyoung Tack Hong has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally. He awarded Lee In Sung Art Award in 2013. His works are in major collections of National Museum of Modern Art, Ilmin Museum and Daelim Museum.
