LEE Je was born in Seoul, in 1979. Lee graduated from the School of Fine Arts, Kookmin University and its graduate school, majoring in painting.

 The artist paints ordinary street scenes of Keumho-dong, a neighborhood where he spent his childhood. Such scenes are painted in a blurred way with dull colors as if glorious moments of daily lives are faded. Lee’s scenes are like virtual space of memories.

 In space with old and worn-away things, his viewpoint on trivial memories is never somber or gloomy but rather warm and ingenuous. From his warm attitude toward the poor neighborhood where he once lived, it is seen that he has hearty affection to the residents, rather than criticizing and resisting to the society.

 Lee has held 3 solo exhibitions and participated in some 30 temporary exhibitions.
