Jean-Pierre RAYNAUD

French contemporary art virtuoso, Jean Pierre Raynaud was born in Courbevoie in 1939 and graduated from his horticulture diploma in 1958. In 1961, He suffered a mental panic disorder because of the impact of war when he lost his father. Through it all, he became the spiritual treatment by painting and filling up the pot with cement which is founded by chance in a ware house. The pot is a symbolic objet with the implied meaning of the loss his father during the World War Ⅱ.

Raynaud’s work consists of various objects such as pots, white porcelain tiles and flags. He finds the remedy for the death and wounds caused by the war in the strength of symbolism. Furthermore, he sublimates the fear for Death in art by stating death in the symbolism. He started a project with Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin and Picasso which are an initial choice without critical sense. He considered two things. The first is to put the names in the situation when we usually see it like signs. At the same time, he created recognition extract of the holistic art. He also chose colors that seem to be the echo of what evokes the artist’s name.

In 1965 Raynaud made his first solo exhibition at the gallery Jean Larcade in Paris and participated in the Biennial of Sãu Paulo in Brazil in 1967. In 1986 he received the Grand Prize for Sculpture of the city of Paris. In addition, he represented France at the Venice Biennale that year and won the Medal of Honor.
