HA Jung Woo (1978-) reveals a pure spirit and primal energy rooted in his long-standing exploration of primitivism. His works inspired by carpet designs are composed of rhythmic lines and geometric abstractions, emphasizing mystery and purity. By incorporating indigenous patterns, he seeks to visually unfold the intuitive dimension of human nature. At the same time, he reinterprets Korean folk motifs such as traditional masks with a contemporary sensibility, weaving them into his artistic language. HA’s practice strives to restore human authenticity within modern civilization, reviving sincerity and vitality in life. By reexamining symbolic expressions of the primitive, he conveys a resonance on the origins of human existence and proposes new emotional discoveries.
