Hakgojae Gallery is pleased to present a special exhibition of Chusa Kim Jeong-hui and Woosung Kim Chong Yung, which will run from 11th of September through 14th of October, 2015. Artworks by both artists contain ‘beauty of structure.’ They were intended to determine the system of truth, based on the simplicity that connects the spirit and the substance. In particular, they both have managed to portray aesthetic mind and philosophy of Bulgyaegongjol(不計工拙) and Bulgak(不刻) within two and three dimensional space time, known as a screen and a dimensional structure. Although modern 20th century of Korea is often said to be a period of discontinuity in tradition due to colonization and westernization, we are able to see how history and modern come together and be recreated through these two artists’ artworks. The audience will be able to see where the essence of globalization of Korean Art lies by taking a glance of artworks by Kim Jeong-hui and Kim Chong Yung, whom became the roots of Korean Art.
