With spring season coming, Hakgojae Gallery opens Yo Bae Kang’s solo exhibition. This exhibition is the first solo exhibition at the gallery since the solo exhibition ‘Sui-Chim(스침)’ at Hakgojae in 2008. The artist’s works produced for last 5 years, while living in Guiduck-ri in Jeju, will be on view. Also, this exhibition includes drawings produced from 1990s to present giving a chance to see the whole picture and flow of his work.

 
The artist has been focusing on depicting landscape of Jeju Island with his magical and symbolic language. The landscapes and aesthetics in works like , , 白鏡)> show the perspective of the artist. The large-scale works including , , will show flawless maturity and brushstroke of the artist. With those works in color , , on view, this exhibition will show Kang’s diverse oeuvres.
 
Kang brings back scenes of changeable life and Pung-Chun-Weol-Hae (wind, sky, moon, and ocean) to ask about its myth, legend, and history and touches the breath and grain of life filed up on his mind. The artist identifies the nature and history of Jeju as himself and focuses on delivering the meaning of this empathy on subject through his work. Hakgojae would like to give an opportunity to reflect upon the struggle and friction of contemporaries from observing the landscapes seen through the eyes of mind.
